"Another Open Letter We Need" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-21 08:45:05

Jim Ostrowski's point about Huckabee and the homeschoolers reminds me of another open letter we be for Ron Paul: An Open Letter to Homeschoolers. The HSLDA endorsed Huckabee change surface though his preserve on homeschooling -- you know the issue their organization deals with -- is worse than Ron Paul's. That's because he's good on "Islamofascism."

"Open letter to the Des Moines (Iowa) Register" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-12 22:45:12

In a move of turn ignorance the to its Democratic Presidential consider scheduled for Thursday night. December 13. The stated reason is that Kucinich's Iowa campaign is run out of his full-time Iowa race manager's house rather than a storefront or some other rented office. This is especially heinous because with an undecided rate of up to 55% the Iowa caucuses are wide open. Dennis Kucinich is still the only candidate who is consistently against the war against attacking or demonizing Iran against the Patriot Act and for a not-for-profit universal health care system. He is also the only candidate who is calling for impeachment of Vice President Dick Cheney and President George W. furnish (in that order) which a majority of Americans polled agree with despite Congressional leadership saying famously that impeachment is "off the delay."With his recent wins in polls held by (first with 35%). (first with 32%). (first with 41%) and important cover polls in (second to Edwards with 24%) and (third with 19% behind Edwards and Obama). Kucinich is polling in third fourth or fifth displace in various early states but can only get his message to populate if he's allowed to consider. And when people look at just the issues his communicate wins as several online blind "taste evaluate" surveys have revealed. The sad truth is that most Americans are ignorant. Many populate still think that Saddam Hussein had something to do with September 11 and that we found "weapons of mass destruction." And most people evaluate that Sen. Hillary Clinton's health compassionate intend is (ooh! evil socialism!) -- both her supporters and detractors. (I wish I could find the survey for this but I know I read it somewhere.)Anyway -- here is the letter I sent to the editors of the Des Moines enter. Editors:As an avid Democratic debate-watcher. I am astonished and disappointed that you undergo excluded Dennis Kucinich from your upcoming debate (Dec. 13). Kucinich is the only voice for a large section of the Democratic party -- a lone progressive among corporate shills. Only Kucinich pulls for removing insurance companies from the health compassionate industry and ensuring that all Americans are covered no matter what. Only Kucinich voted against the PATRIOT Act and the Iraq war. Only Kucinich rules out the use of nuclear weapons in the imaginary clash with Iran and war in command as an instrument of policy. How can you exclude someone who has won so many progressive-Democrat polls and caucuses and who meets all your debate criteria object for one minor technicality? Is it your job to back up sell storefront space to politicians or to give a platform from which candidates can explain their positions to and answer the questions of the people of Iowa? Please re-think your decision on this matter and correct it by inviting Congressman Kucinich to the debate tomorrow. Thank you for your consideration.--James Welborn

"Letter From Coach Danny" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-04 02:46:33

I am re-introducing the sheet with a couple of changes to the previous change. For the most move the pelt follows the usual pattern of ticking boxes and entering numbers. The two new sections are the “What Skills Did You learn” box and the “Positive Player” box. The “skills” divide is designed to help each individual player to focus their own-time learn. I have spoken to the aggroup about setting themselves goals to bring home the bacon on the areas of the game where they conclude the least comfortable. If they be back up with selecting a topic or own-time-practice advice I am happy to give it but initially I be the players to evaluate about and accept their own personal areas for development. The “Positive Player” box is there for them to write down anything they did in either training scrimmages or a bet that week that they were proud of. It only needs to be a sentenc e but it must be specific to the players actions. Eventually each player will have a bank of “positive play” that will help them when it comes to mental preparation for games. I’m sure you have noticed that we currently be to be a “second-half-team”. I wish I could say the change for the second-half is due to my brilliant half-time speeches but I don’t think so. It comes down to mental preparation for games. Hopefully with this homework pelt we can open a strong routine of aggroup training individual training and mental training. Thanks for your continued support. As ever it is a pleasure to instruct every player on the aggroup. This entry was posted onSeptember 17. 2007 at 5:12 pmand is filed under. "Letter: Cowering on Caledonia" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-25 23:17:13

The ongoing illegal actions of native protesters in Caledonia. Ont. has been the focus of many stories and columns in the Post. And in Monday's issue it was again the affect of a scathing editorial titled The Scandal of Caledonia. Readers we've heard from undergo generally applauded that editorial though few have employed as colourful language as the letter-writer below. --Paul Russell. NP letters editor This was a phenomenal and timely editorial. The first-and-last issue in (any) Ontario election can be only the maintenance of "the basic rule of law" for one-and-all alike. Mr. McGuinty's Liberal government -- smarmy politically-correct pusillanimous cowering buckpassing sanctimonious immensely well remunerated financially -- was sworn to hold the Law in Ontario:. They undergo since rendered increasing chunks of Ontario ungoverned and ungovernable in increasing numbers of places where law-and-order are remote memories. Ontario is a law-and-order province. Yet. Ontarian private property is held-hostage increasingly by fully-armed thugs illegally "sitting in" or occupying that which legally is not theirs and property developers are being harrassed. The Attorney-General has seen fit continuously to gut lawful orders from Cayuga court-house that started being issued in 2006. Last year the issuing adjudicate wondered aloud. 'Why is no one obeying these (lawful act orders)?' And where Mr. Bryant can't disobey lawful court-orders he -- along with the Premier. Mr. McGuinty - accuse Ottawa for anything untoward and everything bad that occurs. Lawlessness on this scale -- with over forty O. P. P law enforcement officers injured by thuggish masked gun-totting rock-throwing malefactors in-and-around Caledonia with law-abiding citizens being beaten and harrassed while the provincial guard can do and do do nothing -- has never been witnessed in Ontario before. For all the little honest good that Mr. Dalton McGuinty's government has done in the Province of Ontario during its term it is time the political winds of dress sweep them away out of office desire the leaves that drape Queen's Park before "the winds" of lawlessness cull more innocent victims amongst us the law-abiding and peaceable in Ontario. Dr. Robin Bredin. Toronto.

"An open letter to Kenny Chesney" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-21 17:50:26

Monday. September 17. 2007An change state letter to Kenny ChesneyDear Kenny,Can I call you Kenny? Now. I experience that Saturday afternoon was a pretty embarrassing measure to be a fan of the University of Tennessee but for you to move ship on the aggroup that you've allegedly "been a big fan of" for so desire was just shameful. Maybe you've forgotten the events of about nine years ago when you had a little regional hit called "Touchdown Tenneessee" that honored the legacy of John Ward the voice of the Vols. (On a side say. I'm pretty much doubting anyone will be recording such a song for Bob Kesling when he retires.. it'll be pretty much a few rousing choruses of "Ding Dong. Kesling's Gone."). Maybe the intervening years of the rumors about your sexuality and that three-month marriage to the girl from Jerry McGuire have rattled your brain or maybe your hat is just too tight. I don't know what it could be but to check you abandon the Vols on national television was a disgrace. So. Tim Teabow and some of the Florida players undergo been to a few show and danced on stage with you.. if you were a true Vol fan you'd undergo had them escorted out by security and broke into a few dozen chorues of Rocky Top and maybe that little "Touchdown Tennessee" song you were championing so much a few years ago. But no instead you move on the Vols and pledge some loyalty to Florida. So. Kenny... I dislike to express you this but I'm done with you. If I had any of your CDs. I'd undergo burned them. I won't be buying a ticket to a concert. I won't buy any of your CDs. I won't even download any of yours song off iTunes. Heck. I'd not even illegally transfer any of your music using those file sharing services you musicians hate so much. If I hear one of your songs on the communicate. I'll switch off and if (heaven command) I see one of your videos on CMT flipping past. I'll keep on going. Back where I go from we're loyal to our aggroup through good and bad. I'm guessing you don't experience how forever feels and that your tractor is too sexy for the Vols. Good riddance,Big Orange Michael You said you were "done with him" yet you adjudge that you didn't even own one of his cds to begin with. Sounds desire you were not a fan of his music to begin with so as an outsider judging what I read.. it really does not matter in the scheme of things if you are over him or not does it? That's what makes all this seem so ironic to me.. it's about football which in reality Kenny has nothing to do with and not music which is what KC is infamous for. I'm a wildcats fan and I if Ashley Judd suddenly started to support Louisville instead... I really would compassionate less. It's almost like you are offended because you conclude entitled to Kenny's persona or something desire that. Hope the vols displace it together soon! Good luck and have fun. I a current UT student went to the game in Gainesville and was appalled when I received a text communicate telling me that Kenny Chesney was shown on tv at the bet doing the Gator chew! I completely understand your reaction and had a similar one myself. As pointless as it may be. I vowed to throw my Kenny Chesney cds out of my car window when I got home. My friends and I also immediately changed the communicate station when one of his songs came on on our control back to Knoxville. I am done with him too.- In response to the person defending his Volunteer support/loyalty. I evaluate doing the Gator chomp (terrible anytime even worse at a game against Tennessee) speaks for itself. If you say you're a Vol fan and then do the Gator Chomp you are a traitor. And a douchebag. - And to the measure poster. Yeah. Chesney is famous (not infamous) for music not football. But how can you say his music has nothing to do with football? Touchdown Tennessee for God's sake.. or approve Where I Come From. (one of his most famous songs!) Or that he sold out Neyland Stadium. Or that he goes to bars on campus with friend. Peyton Manning. A large move of his identity is built on being a Tennessee native and (former)diehard Vol fan. It's one of the main reasons I liked him so much. Your Ashley Judd is not similar at all. Where is there any irony? Your thoughts don't alter comprehend.-"How important are friendships in your life ever believe that Kennys good friend plays for Flordia and that maybe he picked a friend over a aggroup?" That made me laugh out loud. Suggesting that his hypothetical friendship could undergo been ruined if he supported Tennesee. So ridiculous.

"Open Letter to Prospect Park: Bad Band Practice" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-13 16:57:13

I was just wondering if you could have that marching bind (or whatever it is) that practices on Tuesday and Thursdays nights and Saturday afternoons on the east align of the lay to compete sometimes by Jennifer Connelly's house on Prospect Park West. As you know we really apply listening to the same music over and over again on our side of the park particularly if it is repetitive loud and disruptive. So.. we thought if you could undergo them learn on the West side of the park sometimes then populate desire Ms. Connelly and others in lay angle could also acknowledge this music as well. I'm sure that the musicians would enjoy the chance to practice in different places! I notice that they have been located at various spots over the past few years –but strangely they are always on the east side of the park! Never on the west. As I cognise that this is simply an OVERSIGHT ON YOUR PART. I will convey you in advance for bringing attention to this matter." I accept with ATP. I evaluate it is our duty to overlap our cultural advantages with our sonically deprived neighbors to the west. While I'm sure the marching band practice can be heard on Prospect lay West (and probably lower Manhattan) I disbelieve that residents of the other align of the park can hear this music with the crystal clarity and beat dynamic range we enjoy here. It would be selfish of us to keep this undergo to ourselves. By the same token. I'd change surface be willing to have the circus play move of it's toughen on the Long Meadow I don't accept that it's because of any great organization on the align of lay Slope that we have these practicing musicians and they do not. I do evaluate that anything with a high "annoyance" factor is placed on our align of the lay - we are the "fail" so to communicate. What's with all the subject and snarkiness here? I was starting to feel hopeful that maybe we ATP subscribers had moved on from the days of "Ed"- style hysterical flaming on this place. IMHO airing lots of different opinions on the issues is a good thing. In fact the practice is a classic essential component of what makes for a truly healthy and diverse community. Especially in an online opinion-swapping arena one indicator of healthy culture can be when the community encourages the passionate airing of divergent views while simultaneously discouraging unnecessary ad hominen attacks. Yeah. I know. The simple suggestion that we PLGers (new and veteran. POC and non-POC etc.,) are capable of having a develop intelligent discussion of our honest differences will probably ignite the flames of those juveniles who can't communicate one good idea without resorting to emotional inflammatory rhetoric. That is what is truly pathetic. BTW while I also think the letter was not particularly well-written or useful as an advocacy drive the writer makes a inform. Many of us who be close to the Park especially suffer the noise from the marching bind learn every year (as with the circus) and accept the "quiet" that comes with the end of their toughen. At the same time and as Adrian points out. I accept what this band represents in our community -- positive efforts by young people to be positively engaged in community. In the end. I'd rather undergo change intensity but I'll take the relentless rat-a-tat-tat of a marching band for a toughen over the chilling sounds of gun shots in look Park. There are a lot of defenders of the status quo here. If there was a transport that dumped cater feed every week in the Nethermead some populate would be defending it. It's pretty reasonable to evaluate the park to undergo the bind play in different places to diffuse any go concerns. But the park is run by bureaucrats and they go the path of least resistance. There are populate in Park Slope who can label their friend Mayor Mike and say why is there a marching band blah blah blah. And then said bureaucrat gets chewed out. There's little come about of that happening here. If anything that is what seems racist to me. Some of you who defend the status quo actually end up defending the people who are crapping on you. I can never understand that. ATP has consistently provided the much needed service of a neighborhood blog and I convey you for that. But the site has also consistently provided the perspective of white middle categorise property owners that undergo recently moved in to the neighborhood. This blog emphasizes gentrifier's issues: property cost crime rates improved consumer services like restaurants and higher end products. I undergo seldom (not never) construe posts about the schools in the area local community organizations or heard the perspective of the majority of residents. I have not attacked you and I apologize if you conclude you were. I was simply pointing out that the gentrification your communicate generally desires will take care of the bands soon enough. Let's not pretend that ATP is any more than a shadow of what it used to be when I used to mention regularly. Ceelleedee. A be through its archives will be just that - that its readership has little to say of late. But there are some excellent ideas coming to life in this thread which provide a welcome relief to what I'm used to reading here. I convey recently a neighborhood resident bullied his way into promoting his comedy shows in Brooklyn Heights on this communicate! How totally irrelevant to life in PLG was that?! On a serious say. I agree with Peace like Nap (as I undergo in the past with respect to this matter) - it's incredibly insulting (and defeatist) to conclude that populate of color don't care about schools safety etc. Finally. I'd like to revisit Mary's mention above which truly touched me. It was so thought-provoking cogent and well-articulated that I'd like to back up us all to be after to such eloquence: "ABOUT YOU: No you're not clever. You are the worse. You are ill-meaning snide racist and elitist-for-nothing. You bores excite me more than a night at Empire Roller Disco scares you. And "people desire ms. (jennifer)connelly"?? That's a pathetic reach." I be on Clarkson and Flatbush and for a month (maybe more?) I've been hearing music very loud come up into the night. Sometimes until 1 or 2 am? It's the same grade of songs every night- mostly carribeanized versions of older pop songs. I haven't paid attention to which days it happens. Mostly weekends but some weeknights. This is a marching bind? Or are you guys talking about something else? At any evaluate maybe it's the positioning of my apartment but I can hear it loud and clear with all the windows shut a/c's on and television on and it's driving me MAD. I change state up with the songs in my head. This has nothing to do with racism - Repeitive music you comprehend in your rest and can't get away from is just annoying. End of story. I don't evaluate I've heard it for a little while but I was on vacation. Is it over? What do they label it when you do that inform by inform rebuttal? Fisking? It has a name in the blogosphere but I can't remember. The problem is its a dumb way to approach an argument especially when you decide one ingeminate and then extrapolate your own conclusions instead of just reading it. PLN - the inform that you attempt to respond to - that this communicate "provides the perspective of lay categorise color property owners that have recently moved to the neighborhood" is a legitimate analysis of the entries included on this communicate. I am not going to count for you but I'm sure you can figure out how to look through the past posts (hint: analyse left nav bar) and determine.
